The IEPAS2019 (6th Annual Conference on Eurasian Politics and Society) has been completed successfully.

The 6th International Conference on Eurasian Politics and Society was organised by CESRAN International and Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa on 4-5 July 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The conference hosted 11 scholarly panel sessions, one roundtable session and one book discussion session.

IEPAS2019 started with the welcome addresses of Professor Jose Amado Da Silva (Rector, UAL), Professor Luis Tome (Scientific coordinator, OBSERVARE-UAL), and Professor Ozgur Tufekci (Director-General, CESRAN International). This was followed by the keynote lectures of distinguished scholars, Professor Stefan Wolff (Birmingham University) and Professor Carlos Gaspar (National Defense Institute, Portugal).

In the roundtable session, chaired by Professor Rahman Dag (Deputy-Director-General of CESRAN International), Professors Luis Tome, Bruno Cardoso Reis, Sandra Fernandes and Ana Isabel Xavier presented their contemporary research on post-Soviet political order(s) in Eurasia.

The book discussion session featured Dr Paul Richardson’s scholarly monograph, “At the Edge of the Nation: The Southern Kurils and the Search for Russia’s National Identity” (University of Hawai’i Press, 2018).

In the scholarly panels, in total 52 papers were presented by 56 participants. The conference ended with a closing ceremony and a post-conference evaluation meeting.
